Ductile iron is a high-strength cast iron material developed in the 1950s. Its comprehensive performance is close to that of steel. Based on its excellent performance, it has successfully cast some parts with complex strength, high strength, strong toughness and high wear resistance. Ductile iron has rapidly become a widely used cast iron material.
The so-called "replacing steel with iron" mainly refers to nodular cast iron. Spherical graphite can be obtained from nodular cast iron through spheroidization and inoculation, which effectively improves the mechanical properties of cast iron, especially the plasticity and toughness, and obtains higher strength than carbon. What is the development history of nodular cast iron? Leomur of France made the Baixinjiadan iron. Later, Seth Boyden of the United States invented ductile iron in 1826. Know the 20th century. Due to the development of the main components of cast iron, such as C and silicon, and other influences, melting methods and inoculation effects, the so-called cast iron appeared. Therefore, the material has been greatly improved and the application range has been increased. However, due to this fundamental shortcoming, the scope of application has not been rapidly expanded. Later, the cast iron with spherical graphite appeared in the smoky Moro in the casting state. When Ce is added to the gray cast iron with high carbon and low sulfur, the residual amount remains above 0.02%, and the nodular cast iron is made. Almost at the same time, INCO GAGNEVIN and others added MM to cast iron. During the Second World War, the resources needed to produce wear-resistant martensite were insufficient, and the substitution of Cr became a top priority. Therefore, a systematic investigation has been carried out on whether various metals and transitions chemically combined with C form C-compounds, including magnesium. When adding, Cu80 1 Mg20 alloy and Ni80-M920 were used to slow down the violent bounce. The results show that as a substitute element for chromium, it not only has good effect, but also has obvious desulfurization effect when there is residue in molten iron. On the basis of these new discoveries, the effect of adding magnesium into gray cast iron after white pearlite was also studied. Adding 0.5% Mg to gray cast iron, including C 3.5%, Si 2.25% and Ni 2%, its tensile strength far exceeds the original prediction (generally, the gray cast iron is about 13 kgf/mm2) and is 78 kgf/mm2. What is the composition of nodular cast iron? Cast iron is iron and carbon with a carbon content of more than 2.11%. Industrial pig iron, scrap steel and other materials can be obtained by melting at high temperature. In addition to Fe, C of other cast iron can also be precipitated into graphite. If the precipitated graphite is carved, the cast iron is called gray cast iron or gray cast iron, and the worm cast iron is called soft nodular iron. When flowing into a block, the chemical composition of the cast iron other than the malleable nodular iron is generally 3% - 4% of C content, 1.8% - 3.2% of silicon content, less than 3% of the total amount of manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, and an appropriate amount of rare earth and other spheroidized elements.
